Program: This course covers the fundamentals of material selection according to prof. Ashby approach, as developed through the CES Edupack and Granta Selecto softwares. Lectures (8hrs) will provide basic information on material selection strategies and the employ of the Ansys Granta Edupack software, which will be the main focus of the laboratory experiences(12 hrs)

1. Materials properties: representation in graphs their role in design strategies 2. Bubble plots and their use in designing for stiffness, for strength and for toughness

3. Material selection in designing with multiple constraint and objectives
